Is Chem-Dry of Reno a steam cleaning service?

No, Chem-Dry of Reno is not a steam cleaner. We use carbonation to lift dirt and grime from your carpets, so we do not need to use the gallons of water typical steam cleaners use.

Carpet Cleaning

What is considered a room?

Our room sizes are based on 200 sq ft. If any of your rooms are over 200 sq ft, there may be an additional area charge.

Why does Chem-Dry not use as much as water to clean my carpets as steam cleaning does?

Chem-Dry uses up to 80% less water than typical steam cleaning because its carbonated cleaner, The Natural®, relies on millions of microscopic bubbles to release dirt and grime from your carpet’s fibers and raise it to the surface where it can easily be swept away. This low-water approach is healthier for your carpets and allows them to dry in only 1-2 hours.

What type of chemicals does Chem-Dry use?

Chem-Dry uses a cleaning solution called The Natural® as our primary cleaner. The Natural® contains no soapy detergents or harsh chemicals and instead is based on ingredients copied from Mother Nature. In contrast, most steam cleaners use soaps, detergents, and harsh chemicals.

Should I vacuum before you arrive?

This is not necessary. Chem-Dry’s professionally trained carpet and upholstery cleaners will vacuum your carpets with our commercial, HEPA-filtered vacuum when they arrive as a standard part of our service.

How often should I have my carpets cleaned?

We recommend that homeowners clean their carpets every 6-12 months. Regular cleaning will not only improve your home’s appearance but also reduce non-living allergens*, improve your home’s indoor air quality, and extend the life of your carpeting.

How long will it take for my carpet to dry completely?

Drying time depends on humidity levels, airflow to the room(s) cleaned, and the type of carpet. Turning on your air conditioning or fans will help accelerate dry times. After a Chem-Dry professional cleaning, the carpet typically takes 1-2 hours to dry. Sometimes, carpets can take longer to dry for various reasons.

How do you remove pet urine odor from carpets?

Pet odors can last months if not treated properly. As urine dries in the carpet and padding, millions of concentrated urine crystals become even more pungent. Many companies mask this odor. Chem-Dry uses a patented system, P.U.R.T.® (Pet Urine Removal Treatment), to break down the enzymes, forever removing the pet urine odor*.

Why do I need protectant on my carpets?

Most new carpets come with a factory-applied protectant, which wears off over time. Reapplying a protectant on your carpets can help resist stains and soiling, so your carpets will stay cleaner longer. Another reason protectant is a wise investment is that it slows the aging and wearing process and can extend the life of your carpets.

Compare Chem-Dry vs Steam Cleaning

Traditional steam cleaning saturates your carpet with excessive water filled with soaps and detergents. The carpets are left wet for 1-2 days, which creates a breeding ground for mold and mildew.

Chem-Dry’s process is different. We employ millions of microscopic bubbles to explode dirt from deep in your carpet fibers, so we only need to use a fraction of the water typical steam cleaning uses. After the carbonation releases and lifts the dirt, our high-powered equipment extracts the dirt and moisture from the carpet.

Why should I call Chem-Dry instead of just renting a carpet cleaning machine?

The DIY space is incredible, and thanks to platforms like YouTube, you can really learn and do a lot on your own.

However, attempting things on your own can also lead to costly mistakes, which is not what you’re after. When it comes to DIY carpet cleaning with a rented machine, you’re likely to oversaturate your carpet with harsh soaps, phosphates, and water.

All of those things can cause significant damage to your home. Not to mention, it will take days for it all to dry. None of those things would be a problem if you just call Chem-Dry of Reno. We don’t use harsh soaps, and our carbonated process is more water-efficient than traditional steam carpet cleaning machines, resulting in faster dry times and a lower risk of mold and mildew growth.

While you can just rent a carpet cleaning machine, scheduling a carpet cleaning with a pro like Chem-Dry of Reno may be more cost-effective and convenient in the long run.

Upholstery Cleaning

How often should you clean your furniture?

We recommend professional upholstery cleaning every 24-48 months. As with carpets, the presence of kids, pets, allergies, and asthma in the home may necessitate more frequent cleanings to improve air quality and the overall healthfulness of the home.

How does Chem-Dry clean upholstery?

We also use our proprietary Hot Carbonating Extraction cleaning method, featuring our core cleaner, The Natural®, to clean upholstery. The carbonated cleaning bubbles release dirt, soil, non-living allergens*, and spots from the upholstery fibers. Then, we use our extraction equipment to remove the cleaning solution, dirt, soil, and other contaminants from your furniture, leaving it with a deeper, healthier clean than other alternatives.

Do you offer protectant or stain guard for upholstery?

Yes, after the upholstery cleaning, you can have the furniture stain guarded with Chem-Dry’s Protectant.

How long does it take for furniture to dry?

In most cases, the furniture dries within just a couple of hours, but in some cases, it may take overnight to dry, depending on the fabric and soil condition.

Tile & Grout Cleaning

How often should I clean my tile, stone and/or grout?

As with carpet, many factors need to be considered when determining the frequency of tile and grout cleaning. Foot traffic, children, pets, and routine floor maintenance will affect how often you need to have your tile, stone & grout cleaned.

Why should I have my tile, stone and grout cleaned?

Just like carpet, dirt builds up over time, dulling the appearance of tile or stone and discoloring grout. A thorough, professional cleaning of stone, tile, and grout is the only way to remove the deep-down dirt, make this area of your home look nicer, and ensure that tiled areas of your home are clean and healthy.

Why should I have my grout lines sealed?

Grout is a porous material that absorbs soil and spills. Applying a sealant will help create a protective barrier, giving you more time to clean up dirt and liquid spills before they soak into the grout. The type of sealant you choose will determine the degree of stain resistance.

Area Rug Cleaning

Why should I have my area and oriental rugs cleaned?

Area and oriental rugs usually receive a lot of traffic. Like carpets and upholstered furniture, they act as air filters for the home, trapping dirt and non-living allergens*. A thorough, professional oriental and area rug cleaning is the only way to effectively and thoroughly remove the embedded dirt in your rugs.

Is Chem-Dry's cleaning process gentle for my rugs?

Our effective yet gentle area rug cleaning and drying process preserves the dye within your rug’s fibers, leaving its colors vibrant and fresh. Our cleaning products help your area rugs stay cleaner longer, providing a healthy home environment for your family and pets.
